Task 1a

I've spent the last few days looking at some of the BAPP blogs and, so far, I am very impressed by the amount of talented, thoughtful and creative people that have taken/ are taking this course. I am also very encouraged by the constructive and supportive comments that people have left as I must admit I've always been a little wary of some social media (a lot of the time I have read nothing but hate and ignorance in the comments people make).
I've also been reading the Tim O'Reilly article on Web 2.0 and I'm now feeling a little more informed on the subject but with a lot to yet understand about the possibilities of both it's global and local applications.

Thus, armed with this new insight and ideas, I've been reflecting on my current standpoint about the pro's, and con's, of using Web 2.0 sites. I have always been aware that social media has (seemingly) endless possibilities but have, until now, been reluctant to involve myself in it wholeheartedly or use it more prominently in my professional business. Issues of privacy, ethics and duty of care to my students are foremost in my mind. Food for thought definitely...

By the way, I don't know if it's of interest to anybody (or whether it's something everyone already knows about) but in setting up my blog/ Gmail account I've discovered a nifty little thing called google alerts (www.google.com/alerts). It will look for news/ articles on any subject that you care to ask it. I've just set one up to send me Web2.0. related stuff. I think I might be finding it a very useful little app. indeed!

So, onto the first part of the task! I am posting a link to my current CV below:

As you can see, I have been working in the same four schools for over ten years now and therefore, although up-to-date, my CV has not seen the light of day for a very long time. I would really appreciate any thoughts, ideas and comments on it.

On to my profile now...

  1. Hi Sarah - Thanks for your CV which I was able to view. Have you undersold yourself? What have you accomplished from your experiences? Devised dance routines with 10 year old boys? Achieved a pass rate of 100% on such a Cert? We should all try to look back at what we achieved in any particular job - it helps you stand apart. I hope this helps.
